training abs
I've been a powerlifter for 10 yrs and I'm trying to make my ABs stand out more. I know the AB musce are there. Should I train my ABs or just do cardio. Yes, my diet is good. I eat around 6 meals a day. example:
1-raisin bran w/ 2% milk and 1 whole egg and 4 egg whites 2-shake 50 grams protein / 50 grams carb 3-chicken, yams, green bean 4-chicken, yams, green bean 5-shake 50 grams protein / 50 grams carb 6-chicken and broccoli But no cardio b/c I want to maintain as much muscle mass as I can. I want to compete in a bodybuilding show next year. Thanks Mr Clean |

To me, powerlifters have the potential to make much better bodybuilders than bodybuilders do. As one of the only strength athletes on this board, I am saddened that yet another of my comrades is joining the dark side.
If you trained abs as a powerlifter to work your core, which if you were successful as a powerlifter, you probably did that, you probably don't need additional ab work. Your best bet is probably a combination of intense interval type cardio, a couple of times a week and cutting out some of the carbohydrates such as your yams. |

I agreee, if your abs are already there, no need to keep training them intensely, as that could acutually make your midsection and waiste larger. some cardio and diet should do you nice man.
good luck
