I read in a muscle mag and on another site that if you flex after each set in your workout that you get more of a pump and the muscle threads become more defined, do any of you guys practice this? I started it just for shits and giggles, you never know.

It's supposed to help define the muscle. I do it with my biceps and triceps, flex and hold for a count of 30.

I'll do it sometimes as well when I train bi's and tri's, but I'll also do it when I train legs as well

During a day of competition a bodybuilder can drop upwards of 5-10 pounds of bodyweight. Of course this can be attributed to a number of different factors, however one of the keys is the almost constant flexing. It's hard work. Pre contest posing is a pain. Flexing forces water out of the muscles. That's why some competitors look better the day after a show. They miss their peak. As far as flexing during a workout, I think it is a good idea and that it helps, although I hate guys in the gym making flexing a big show for anyone around them. I do the Charles Atlas resistence thing for every trained body part each workout and believe it is one reason I stay fairly shredded pretty much all year

flexing and streaching will help in getting more muscle separation, also it aids in accumulating less lactic acid helping your muscle recover faster and buiding less soreness. I feel like an ass everytime I flex after a set but what the hell I don't care, usually the ones looking at the ones who are built like a beer keg or like they been drinking 2 to 3 kegs a day for the last few years...lol I can only imagine what they are thinking...."that ass hole showing off" But the truth is that I do it for the physiological benefits and I also like the pump I get. It aids me in hitting the next set in a more intense way than the previous one. So...remember at least strech strech you will se a difference in muscle separation when you lean out or diet down... I am happy I am consistent with it, it is paying off. I am well on my way for my contest in june!
