Post Will working out abs help with weigt loss in the stomach area?

Will working out abs help with weigt loss in the stomach area? If I build muscle in the ab region will I tend to loose weight in that area? I know your body burns fat evenly all over. Any info would help.

I really dont know big Al,but I think you can lose weight working your abs.Someone once told me that if you have a big stomach do not work out your abs till you lose it,because if you work your abs out with a big stomach your abs will poke out and pretty much look like a roid belly but I dont know if thats true.

NO, you will NOT have greater gains in fat loss by doing more Abs. Abs are just like any other muscle, you work them, they get bigger. If you still have a layer of fat, then NO matter how etched they COULD be, they wont. Diet is the ONLY thing, along with Cardio that will make that 6 pack stand out. Cut the Carbs, up the Protein, and do 30-45 mins of Cardio a day, first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.

ok
with my experience in weight trinnning and fa loss I have found that spot reduction isnot true (working your abs to lose fat around them) how ever if you work your abs
and they get bigger then the fat would be stretched more due to the more bulky muscle
it would apear that spot reduction is real.
get it.

-train hard
-eat hard
-sleep hard

I will guarantee you that ab work increases the circumfrence of the abdominAL area(if you are allready big in that area), cardio and proper diet first then "resistance exercise in that area", or you will build the muscle UNDERNEATH the fat(hence making your belly bigger)but....someone allready said that(ooooops)

No. Everyone has a set of abs. You got to lose enough fat to show them and don't do the 500 situps a day either.

If you want that sixpack that we all dream of, then nutrition will play the biggest role along with cardio training. Just my two cents.

Nutrition and cardio exercise will be the only answers for fat loss.

Diet and diet and yes more dieting is the only way to get your abs out.Doing 500 situps is a complete waste of time, try crunching slowly for 25 reps x 3.

The only way you gonna see your abs is through correct diet and sufficient cardio.
Working your abs may build them yes , byou cant see the results until you deal with the fat layer thats hidding your hard work...

... In terms of fat loss spot reduction is a fallacy...you lose fat by metabolising it, this is achieved by utilising fat as an energy source...by exercising a muscle group you dont increase the fat oxidisation in that area...

...Hypertophy of the Abs may make your waist size larger...however larger abs will be more prominant..so you wont need to drop your absolute level of BF down to achieve a six pack!!!

i strongly believe that the majority rules, i myself am proof too, everyone has a beautiful set of abs underneath the fat lying in their midsection, the only way to reveal that obscured 6-pack is to do atleast 30 min. of cardio every morning before breakfast along with a healthy balanced diet, this means low sugars and carbs and low saturated fats. ab exercises will help to sculpt your physique but won't burn the fat that the cardio will do
