Off Topic legal question
I was released by my employer and told that they are going to give me a severance package. The Vice-President told me that he just doesn't have enough work for me.
What is a fair severance package? I'm supposedly getting paid through the end of the year in one lump-sum payment. Is this thing taxable and also, I may not be able to get unemployment benefits because my employer was/is a railroad. They are not obligated to pay into the state unemployment fund. Thanks.
