Hey everyone. On 7/3 i had my right hip totally replaced, and i would like to know if any body here have ever been through this?
Also what exercises and supplements were taken to help heal the muscles around the hip. Because of the pain i had to stop working out around December 07. I tried going back a few times, however between school and work i was just to beat up from the damn pain to work out. What pisses me off more than anything else, is all the hard work i did up until the point i quit went to waste!! Now i have all this unwanted weight i have to get rid of ![]() |

My cousin's boyfriend has had this done, but he's still laying around..
I would think that your PT would be the best at determining what to do and how much.. sorry I couldn't be of any help |

Wow LH first I want to wish you a speedy/full recovery from your hip replacement and second just be patient as one of my very close buddies had to get a hip replacement (5 years ago), plus had other major injuries (car accident) and today is competing in the middleweight division and that is on the national level too!!!
Just be patient and follow whatever you are told to do by your doctor and also (this is hard to find but not impossible) get yourself a good PT that is trained in rehabing/weightlifting. These specialist PT's will be able to help you better train with weights or whatever other apperatus, so that you don't hurt yourself while at the same time push you to your personal physical limits!! You may not have the same range of motion as you had before, plus strength will be way down, so it will take time to get back on track, but it can be done!!! Good luck to you LH!! |

Thanks Fellas, i really appreciate the support.
I have some good news, saw the doc today and he said i can workout as long as i dont bend down to pick up the weights off of the floor i can workout!!! i can do my upper body, ride a bike, and use the elliptical trainer, laying leg press as long as i dont pass a 90 degree angle..!! woohooo. so back to the gym it is of course i have to be really, really careful. |
