Back From The Dead

SINCE LAST MONDAY I WAS IN THE HOSPITAL WITH KIDNEY FAILURE. I ALMOST DIED. I KNEW I WAS WAS SICK BUT NOT HOW BAD UNTIL THE FIANCEE CALLED AN AMBULANCE. THEY SAY A COLESTERAL PILL SIMSAVIN A STATIN DRUG CAUSE MY KIDNEY FAILURE. ABOUT 2% OF PEOPLE HAVE A REACTION TO IT.
I JUST GOT OUT OFTHE HOSPITAL WHERE I HAD NO INTERNET CONNECTION.
NOW MY BODY IS SO OUT OF WACK FROM THE MEDS I HAVE TO TAKE INSULIN DAILY AND CAN NOT LIFT WIEGHTS UNTIL THE KIDNEYS REPAIR AND DOC GIVES OK. LOST ABOUT 20LBS, 2 INCHES ON THE BICEPTS, 2 INCHES ON WAIST. WEIGHT IS ABOUT 200 LBS. NOW.

OVER 55 AND STILL ALIVE !!!

Thanks Bro's. Doing ok. The Fiancee had to drive my car the first day or so as I was still shakey. Yes the Simvastatin colesteral drug the VA gave me caused the kidney shut down. I was not on steroids at the time of this sickness. I even backed off protien powder because the hospital said it can burn my kidneys out. I have to see what the doctor says as far as supplements go. I want to get back to lifting weights bad, however I have to wait for the kidneys to repair. Can't say enough about having a good women at your side, she called the ambulance and got me to the hospital, she has lived with me over four years now and puts up with my bullshit, weight lifting life style and steroid usage. We were going to get married this month then this happened. I will bounce back from from this better than ever.

A very humble OVER 55

Glad to hear that you are OK!
The VA has thrown me on the cholesterol med-go-round as well. Thankfully I didnt have any worse problems than extreme muscle pain and weakness from the statins. I finally could take pravastatin w/o any major sides. Be careful with which statin they rotate you to next.

Kidney Update

After blood work and doctor vists. recovering at home slowly but, improving.
Kidney numbers should be 1-0 and 100. they currently are 3.75 and 104. so 104/4 is 26% of kidney function working. Sugar is 130-210 with injecting 24 units of insulin a day. I can go walking but no weight lifting or working until the doctor says the kidney's are repaired. New blood work on 6/16 and doctors on 6/20 and 6/23. One doctor is internal the other is diabetes and kidney spec. I lost a lot of wieght ,muscle, size and don't even look like I lift weights anymore. Have to stay off supplements until the doctor approves.
In the hospital they had to call in an IV spec. because the nurse couldn't hit a vein for the sugar water to flush the kidney's. The first thing they said to me was do you lift weights? and at immediate care the nurse couldn't hit a vein for an IV and the EMT had to it in the ambulance.
Drinking a lot of water and diet drinks to flush kidney's and recovering at home. I will bounce back better than ever. I will be back in the gym soon !!!
