Bad headache *please read*
While doing deadlift and on my last set I felt a horrilbe pain in the back of head. It was simular to a regular headache but it was focused on the very back of my neck and running down the sides and back of my neck. I was not lifting more weight than normal. The majority of the pain was gone in 3-5 minutes so I kept on working out. The next morning a slight headache, but nothing even close to those first few minutes. I have taken a day off (today) and would like to know if anyone has ever had this happen to them. I have a power meet in 7 weeks and the last thing I need is to take a week off. Please advise.
Thanks, Littleone |

you could of pinched a nerve. were you looking anywhere other than up when you did the move?? i know you power lift so you should have good form but i have seen some people get a pinched nerve from looking to the side when doing a move
check out a chiropractor for a couple adjustments, a few years ago i was getting headaches every day, i mean every day starting freaking me out. when to every doc possible nobody could figure it out. by a wim i went into a chiro that my family used. he actually found some of my ribs i had broke 2 years prior were out of place and causing my back to be twisted which led to my neck which led to the headaches. sure enough after one adjustment no more headaches. i swear by them now i know it was a little off topic but maybe check one out

it could be a strained leveator scapula or upper trap. best thing to do is take several days off to give the strained muscle a rest. then i would start doing any exercises that seem to aggravate the injury at a fraction of your normal weight(basic wolf's law stuff). doing this for a few weeks ought to be good enough to bring you back to a point where you will be able to push yourself.

If you get another headache from lifting you may have rupture a small vessel in your head. Ive done that from heavy leg press. I took months to recover with minimal training. If it continues i would go to the doc sooner than later!
