Kids and protein
My son is 9 and wrestles 75lbs. Q-1 Is protein ok for kids to take? And what can I give him to eat during his tournaments for energy all day? Q-2 How many times a week do I let him workout with me? He is very active and I let him do plyometrics no weights! We would appreciate any info Thanks.

Protein is fine. He eats meat and Chicken right? Just dont make it a meal replacment to often kids need calories... Real Food.
For energy complex carbs, Oatmeal, Granola, Apples.. Things like that. For extended energy. It should also be eaten approx 2 hours before activilty. No eith before. He'll puke... And he wont benefit from the carbs... He's 9 so really dont over think it.. Feed him when he's hungry and make sure he eats after any workout type of activity. Some simple carbs too.. Keep it simple and most of all keep it fun and he'll be the better for it. I see too many over zealous dads dehydrate the kids and push them to hard and it's a shame. Let him have fun first... |

i agree totally with RFG he is 9 so let him be 9 and have fun with it, real food is important and try to stay away from drinks like red bull and crap like that, real food is where his energy will come from
i race motocross and eat pasta the night bf a race and oatmeal the morning of. that may help on wrestle days for energy always works for me for 15 lap motos

Thanfs
Thanks alot. There is ALOT of overzeolus dads out there, and they make their kids cut a ton of weight, way to serious at that age. I tell my boy its all practice untill you hit high school. This was his 2nd year wrestling 1st time at state and got 2nd! He was alot stronger I think from not cutting.
