Hi, I was reading CME, again, and I have asked around and nobody knows what a PSA test is. It has something to do with your prostate I know that. If someone could please answer: what it is, why would you get one, and what does it consist of, I would appreciate it very much. Just curious and it has been bugging me that I don't know what it is. Thanks

PSA test reads the amount of Prostate Specific Antigen( PSA) in your blood. PSA is produced by the prostate. Too high of levels can be an early indicator of prostate cancer BUT is not always a sign. Men with enlarged prostates for other reasons have also been found to have elevated PSA levels.
