Golds is under new management, they are targeting a demographic that is not quite... hardcore. Several guys on this thread have already stated this, but MD did some editorials on this... Joe Gold must be rolling in his grave. Its good to know that the meccas are still holding strong... Venice on the West Coast and Bev Francis on the East.

We got several 500+ benchers, 700lb deadlifters, dudes dropping dumbells, yellin', gruntin' it's fuckin great! Central Illinois Weightlifting Gym. It's all about the money, that's why the real BBer and PLer gyms are a dying breed. They can make tons of cash off Joe Schmoe because he'll buy overpriced training packages from under qualified trainers. He'll buy their overpriced supplements, he'll sign up for the aerobics classes, and he'll buy an overpriced protein and/or energy drink every day.
We on the other hand buy supplements on-line, we don't need personal trainers, and we don't need special aerobic classes. That's why they don't really want us anymore.

Has anyone been to a gym where they need your thumb-print? There is a gym called Fitworks and they require people the scan their thumb to check into the gym rather than a membership card. Also I heard that Gold's Gym has be bought out....

The WorldGym here was bought out by Planet Fitness, the first thing they did was remove most of the free weights and half the Hammer Strength equipment. Then they took all the DBs over 60lbs. All the core members left, management did'nt care, said that they were now a 'fitness center'. Most of us have now gone to Lifestyles (a family fitness center) but at least they still have a squat rack and heavy DBs.

Well, I am lucky I moved out from the states to Europe, I live in Portorož, Slovenia by the Sea and its beautiful here. I love the fuckin gym here, its an old school gym, I never ever see any big guy there..only me. They always say damn dude u are a monster..u must be from america or something. haha
I play techno or house music in the gym because there is a stereo system and I I bring my own cd to play music..haha I love it. Also there another gym here and its too pricy! Its called TechnoGym..it has all new equipments and everything..but I dont like it. and its 1,000euros for a year long membership

We all know the deal- money over muscle. My gym is corporate but I have been there for 10 years- I have fought them tooth and nail on that pussy shit and so far I have got my way. But I have had some run ins with the ghey members especially the yoganazis- I will drop weight, I will grunt and I will curse and the day they try to throw me out will be a nice physical altercation for them.
Personally Im sick of it- bbers and plers used to be respected members of the gyms for their physical prowess and development when I first got a gym membership. Now we worry about a few members who are scared of their own shadows?! These are not gyms they are 'spas' and bros you know what that means. They are for the people who wear pastel colors and speak softly. Its not just the gyms our society as a whole has started to look down on bbing and plering- aggressive natured, physically fit, well muscled people are pointed out and alienated all in the name of insecurity of those whom do not possess the testicular fortitude, and work ethic to achieve their goals. Its is a sad time indeed for those of us whom have worked hard to achieve our level of development- 17 years I have busted my ass and I just about want to kill when some idiot makes a condescending remark about how I train or how I look- just because they are too fucking lazy to do it themselves. Its the same bitch-ass who says 'I would never want to look like that' and in reality would actually love to be cock diezel but doesnt want to deal with the hard work and discipline to get their simply because they know they do not possess this rare combination of qualities to push themselves to that level of development- so they attempt to drag those of us who have down with lunk alarms and rules that should read 'no hard work allowed in this gym, pizza at the front desk' FUCK THEM!!! I would rather choke on broken glass then be like them.
