You know that if you buy 90% lean for like $1.99 per pound and you cook it like scrambled eggs (crumble it up and brown it) and then put the ground beef crumbles in a collander to let the fat drip out you lose at least half of the fat of the 90% ground beef.

This doesn't work well for stuff like burgers, but if you are just eating the beef to get it in your system (like I do) then its great!

Actually here is what I do(cutting)

I buy diet lean which is 3% fat. Cook it in a George Foreman and drain it that way. Put it into a collander(sp). Then when cooked I put it into two absorbing papers until all fat and moister is gone.

Granted, It is as DRY as fuck, but is pure red meat protein.

I may add a little ketchup to make it passable. Not tasty, but as clean as Ground beef(which I love) can be made

Walmart consistently has cheaper prices... somtimes you can find it on sale at the end of the weekend. Your best option is to befriend a farmer and buy a bigass freezer... deer seasons coming soon too- if you happen to hunt

I tend to eat alot of round steak, cutting or bulking. Wal-Mart has great prices, but I swear the steak tastes like rubber Walrus meat. I tend to just go to Publix, it's 10x better. Also, they will take anyone's coupons. The ground beef from Wal-Mart is more tolerable.....for some reason. And that is certainly cheaper.

This is pretty much how I do it, except I can't afford the 3%. I only buy ground Sirloin however, and cook it in water and grain it. Then I use clean paper towels and squeeze all the grease out. Very dry, but I've acquired a taste for it over the last 6 years and can't stomach even ground chuck anymore.

I used to buy that a lot as well. For some reason I tend to Choke when I eat quite often and red meat seems to be the biggest problem so lately I've been eating a lot more chicken and ground turkey.

BTW...ground beef at Costco is pretty cheap, but they don't carry the super lean stuff. If your eating the super lean stuff as hamburger pattys don't cook it to long...medium rare doesn't taste to bad.

Good point. I am lazy and tend to over cook all my beef to get the fat out and it is terribly dry(sense it was lean to begain with).

I should better cook it medium like I like my steaks.

*btw: Love my George Foreman*

Only beef we have here on island is from France country. Not like American, German, or even English beef. Mostly pork, fish, salmon, chicken for me.
