nutrient ratios??

hey u guys just wondering what a good ratio of carbs, protein, and fats is for putting on mass with little bodyfat. I have read through alot of past posts but i am still very confused. Im in the health and fitness program at college and they recomment 50% carbs, 30%protein, and 20% fats but iv seen people have ratios like 40:40:20. Any comments would be appreiciated. One more question on my mind is how many calories should i consume above my maintaince calories should i add to add mass for a non user and a juicer? Thanks again u guys.

I'd say run a 40:40:20 ration with Caloric intake arounf 4500 for a non juicer to add mass.

See...it's this sh!t that i can't calculate and transfer into my daily routine...i know i sound like a pusswaa for asking for help...but All i can so is recite ratio's all day...me no can apply ...just so yall know I am 145lbs now (up 6lbs), almost 20 in august, 5'10", pretty low bodyfat(would guess around 10%), and very skinny...been stuck here for 5 years straight...I know it's because i keep on messing up with some viscious cycles in life with partying, drugs, and inconsistency on training and diet...but part of that is because i have never seen gains...I want to swallow this problem once in for all...I'm in this till I'm at least 218....please help, and dude...If you live fairly close to me, and provide me with kickass info, hell, I'll drive and throw you some money or bring a couple of tubs of protein for ya...many thanks from a random conscious!
P.S. if anyone can explain how i owuld personally go about figuring out my rations and send me which ratios are best for bulking, cutting...etc....protein will be on it's way...if your in the flo, new orleans area!

Panterra,

I am far from the leading diet expert on this board but in your case, it doesn't take an expert to get you headed in the right direction.

1. Center your diet around getting 1.5 to 2 grams of protein per lb. of bodyweight. That means for you, figure on getting 225 to 300 grams of protein every day, split up over about 6 meals.

2. Fill in the rest with a moderate consumption of fats and carbohydrates. Most people on excessive consumption of carbohydrates just get fat. Some people can handle high carbohydrate loads, some people can't. Blame your parents. Very simple very quick carbs such as gatorade and depeding upon your workout around 200 cal worth should be taken immediately post workout along with about 50 grams of protein powder to refuel your body.

3. If you eat a lot of crap like french fries and sodas, you will probably find that you have a hard time consuming enough protein.

Start with that. Increase/decrease your fat and/or carbohydrate consumption depending upon how much muscle and fat you are adding

You can eat as late as you want providing you don't have any carbs 2 hours before bedtime. Some form of meat is better right before bed as it takes your body longer to digest that so you have a more steady supply of protein throughout the night.

If ur like me, (trying to gain), its never too late to eat!!!!! some of these guys set their clock for 2 or 3 am just to get up and eat. Not a bad idea, im just too lazy. But I make sure I have something for breakfast, thats kinda hard for me, I used to skip breakfast a lot. Like u said, ur a skinny guy, so as long as ur getting the protein I wouldnt worry about the rest until ur belly sticks out further than ur dickedo!!
