I would say up the complex carbs about an hour before your workout. This seems to give me a good boost of energy for my workouts on a low carb diet.

well ... to tel you the truth ...

what you eat today, you will benefit from tommorrow ... you should look up the post I made a while back on cycling carbs ... it basically suggests that you intake the greatest amount of carbs the day before your big muscle group workouts ... day before legs, back / chest etc ... look it up - its got some good info

Once I start to get that all around tired feeling I normally will up my carbs in the a.m. and early p.m. It seems to do the trick for me, but everyone is different.
