Final Project (Nutrition Class)

For those who do not know, I am studying Physical Education/Health/Teaching. My final project for Nutrition this quarter is to:

Evaluate in detail 3 different "popular diets". All i have to turn into the Prof. is my final evaluation paper (5 pages) EASY! but That is only 30% of the grade.

70% of the grade is to teach my class about the 3 "popular diets" i choose. I was wondering what kind of info/ comments you bros would have on how i should go about this... What diets should i choose?

i.e. any good websites to check out, Personal expierince, how many people you know on what diets. etc...

Any info would be greatly appreciated this project is 30% of my overall grade.....
Thanks,
Lets hear them!

The only 2 I can think of are the Atkins diet and the Hollywood diet One is little or no carbs and the other is fasting and drinking the "magic" juice. J.R.

The ZONE is a pretty practial diet, one that get's good results, and seems to be possible to mantain as a lifestyle rather than being a temporary fix. The problem with these so called "popular diets" is that after people have lost a few lbs, they(I'm talking about the average weak-minded slob) quit and gain the weight back.
One thing I'll say is the Atkins diet WORKS, regardless of it's negative hype.

The Guardian is on a distinguished road
Sorry Liv, I have always been trying to gain weight, not lose it. So I don't know much about weight lose diets. The little I do know is about the Atkins diet.

A friend of mine was on it for a few months and lost a bunch of weight. But it turned out to be pretty bad for him. He has a heart condition and the Atkins diet is not a good idea for those with heart conditions. My friend of corse did not know that when he was on it. But I has to take him to the emergency room and they had to actually kill him and jump start him with the paddals to get his heart to beat the right way again.

They said that the Atkins diet being effective to lose weight from low or no Carb intake has a few down sides. One being that it also deprives the body of potassium. And in doing so can effect people with heart problems among other things.

Thats all I really know about it. I'm sure if you search for info on the Atkins diet on a search engine like Al was talking about it will give more info.

Good luck man.

Alright

Next tuesday is my presentation day and the 3 diets my group has chosen to evaluate are The Vegetarian Diet, The Blood Type Diet, and The 48 Hr Diet. We will format our project like this......I am going to give an introduction then 3 of the girls are each going to take and break down each of the diets then the other girl is going to give a conclusion to our presentation...

What info should i include on my introduction. . . ie - why we chose the diets we did, other popular diets.... any ideas guys....

or any info on any of the 3 diets we did chose...throw some ideas out there!!! (especially some tinroduction ideas.. something to grab the attention of my audience)

Try opening with what diets you have chosen and why...then go into a little intro on each one,a little brief histoy and describing why they are popular or even tried. Then let the other girls take it away!!!!

Why not tell them the side effects or long term results of these diets. And or the costs and time each diet takes.
