yeah personally for me it sucked. i cut back on carbs so much that my body viciously fiended for junk food. i feel the better way to go is to eat moderate amounts, meaning one or two portions at meals to get a kind of fix and your later meals in the day i would taper off on the carbs, cause you don't need that much energy later in the day.

Try keeping your ratios like this:

Protein- 60%
Carbs- 30%
Fat- 10%

This formula works for me!

I'm on a ketogenic diet right now and all i can say is that it is by far the easiest diet i've ever tried!! ( lost 8lbs in 2 weeks )feel great.

Its roughly 60% fat, 40% Protein.
Lyle McDonald has some great info on the subject.

I lost 35 lbs doing the low carb, when I do eat carbs its whole wheat only and whole grains. I do not eat carbs for dinner just during the day only.

Brown rice is money for lo carb diets. A couple ounces of yams works well, also.

Be sure to consume the carbs early in the day ... b/c as the day goes on one's body stores more fat ... and the glucose that comes from carbs promotes fat storage.

Also, greens (i.e. broccoli, asparagus, lettuce) and several other veggies are what some might call "carbless carbs". Not only are they low in carbs, filled with fiber (which promotes satiety), but the majority of the few carbs that are in them do not get stored.

Best!

I'd say to just watch the quality of carbs you eat, like brown rice, some fruit, whole grains... try a 4:1 ratio, 360g of protein, 90g carbs...Don't eat any carbs after around 3pm...you'll burn off most you eat throughout the day, and will be fine as evening roles around.

Due to the fact that I don't get to the gym until around 6 or 6:30 pm in the evening I find that if I don't have some carbs with my meal around 5 or 5:30 sometimes I don't have enough energy to train the way I want, but that is just me, I try to take in more with my first meal of the day as well.
