Unfortunately from your pic it looks like a full thickness tear at the insertion. Hopefully the MRI will say otherwise. If you need surgery, get it done ASAP before the tendon retracts and shrinks further toward the muscle belly. Find a good orthopod that does a good deal of these types of surgeries on athletes. If it is a complete tear, you're looking at 6mos partial recovery to 1yr full recovery. I hope it doesn't come to that. Good Luck Bro
